LSU Sets New NCAA Baseball Avg. Attendance Record; Creighton Again In Top 10

LSU led all college baseball teams in regular season attendance for the sixth straight year with 10,885 fans per game at Alex Box Stadium, marking an NCAA record, according to an analysis of figures compiled by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. The previous NCAA average home attendance record was set by LSU in ’10 with 10,673 fans per game. LSU has led all of college baseball at the gate for 17 of the last 18 seasons. This past season was LSU’s fifth at the new Alex Box Stadium after playing in the old venue by the same name from 1938-2008. Arkansas again ranked second nationally with 8,335 fans per game, up from 7,893 last season. The SEC occupied six of the top 10 spots this season, with Ole Miss (No. 3), South Carolina (No. 4), Mississippi State (No. 5) and Texas A&M (No. 9). Since moving to TD Ameritrade Park Omaha in ’11, Creighton has ranked in the top 10 in home attendance. The school once again ranked 10th in ’13 with 4,041 fans per game, down from 4,269 last season. In ’10, during Creighton’s last season splitting games between Creighton Sports Complex and Rosenblatt Stadium, the school ranked No. 43 overall with an average of 1,314 fans per game (THE DAILY).
