RSL became the first MLS team to sell jersey-front sponsorship in ‘05
In Salt Lake City, Landon Hemsley reported MLS Real Salt Lake, which has a jersey sponsorship deal with juice brand Xango, "declined to comment on pending litigation" involving the firm's five founders. RSL VP/Broadcasting & Communications Trey Fitz-Gerald in an e-mail wrote, "Real Salt Lake values its long-standing partnership with Xango. We have no comment on the referenced litigation." RSL became the first MLS team to sell jersey-front sponsorship in ‘05 (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 5/21).

PUNCH BUGGY: Volkswagen of America VP/Marketing Kevin Mayer said of the automaker possibly returning as an advertiser during Fox' Super Bowl telecast in '14, “It's a perennial consideration. For us it always goes back this -- what can we do in that entire quarter that really parlays the Super Bowl? So now we're looking at 2014, and seeing what our priorities are” (AD AGE, 5/21 issue).

TAG, YOU'RE IT: Seahawks and MLS Sounders license plates will become available in Washington state next year, with the Seahawks plate featuring a 12 flag with a fading blue backdrop while the Sounders plate displays the team’s rave green color with a scarf held by a fan. Both plates feature the individual team logos. Net proceeds from the Seahawks plate sales will go to InvestED, a Seattle-based non-profit that partners with schools statewide to help students from low-income families (Seahawks/Sounders).
