Griner's primary agent will be Wasserman Media Group's Lindsay Kagawa Colas
Wasserman Media Group has signed Baylor Univ. C and concensus No. 1 WNBA Draft pick Brittney Griner for representation in all areas. WMG VP/Action Sports & Olympics Lindsay Kagawa Colas will serve as Griner's primary agent. Colas said that she already was in talks with three shoe companies within hours of signing Griner. Colas said she will be seeking corporate partnerships beyond traditional women’s basketball shoe and apparel deals. She said, “While you will not find a more likeable, fun-loving, and humble athlete, Brittney is a trailblazer, challenging a lot of traditional assumptions, so we will consider partnerships with that in mind. She is a revolutionary, but she is comfortable in her own skin. For the right partners, I think that is an exciting opportunity.” Colas said she competed not just with WNBA player agents, but also with those who rep NBA players. She said one reason Griner chose WMG was its strong roster of both Olympic and action sports clients. Griner skateboards as a hobby and hopes to represent the U.S. on the women’s basketball team in the '16 Rio Games. Many WNBA players play overseas, where top players earn higher salaries than they do in the WNBA. Colas said she also was in discussions last night with women’s clubs in Europe and China. Colas reps 13 women's basketball players, including Mercury G Diana Taurasi and Lynx F Maya Moore.
