Turner Sports and the NCAA are teaming up to establish the “Next List Summit,” a Final Four weekend initiative to showcase college student entrepreneurship, creative thinking and innovation. A’s VP & GM Billy Beane, the subject of Michael Lewis’ best-seller “Moneyball,” will be the featured speaker at the April 5 event. Other speakers include five college students who were chosen for their creative ideas and use of technology, as well as other execs who have founded or co-founded their own businesses. CNN will televise a 30-minute show on the “Next List” on April 6 and 7. The CNN show typically airs weekly, and profiles individuals who promote social change through innovation and technology. The students selected for the summit represent Dartmouth, MIT, Vanderbilt and two from USC. Among the execs invited to speak are Bleacher Report co-Founder Dave Finocchio and Alexis Maybank, a former Harvard student who co-founded Gilt Groupe, an online shopping site. Attendance to the summit is by invitation only.
