IMG College, "formed by the acquisitions of three other companies," generates more than $500M in annual revenues (BOSTON GLOBE, 3/5). 

MOVING AHEAD: Big Ten Commissioner JIM DELANY was interviewed by former WNBA President VAL ACKERMAN, who asked him about women looking to assume leadership positions in college athletics. Delany said, "If they want to work at the highest level of college sports, they need to focus on external areas, things like development, revenue generation, sponsorship. Because leadership isn't tied as much to operations these days as it is to how to develop revenues and (generate) awareness and (build) brands. You need to be less about operations and more about the big picture, and you need to involve yourself in these external forces" (ESPNW.com, 3/4).

THE BIG JOKESTER: TNT’s SHAQUILLE O'NEAL appeared live in-studio on “CBS This Morning” today to promote his new truTV show, “Upload with Shaquille O’Neal.” He said of the show, “We go on the Internet and we look at all the most outrageous clips.” The program is “just about making people laugh.” He said NBA Commissioner DAVID STERN, who is retiring next February, has been a “great commissioner, he’s done a lot for the league.” Stern's successor, Deputy Commissioner & COO ADAM SILVER, “has been under David’s wing for 20 years, so the NBA will be in good hands” (“CBS This Morning,” CBS, 3/5).

SCREEN TIME: Actor JON HAMM will star in “Million Dollar Arm,” a movie “based on the true story of J.B. BERNSTEIN, a sports agent who signed two teen cricket players, RINKU SINGH and DINESH PATEL, discovered in a 2008 reality TV show to find the fastest-throwing phenoms in India” (N.Y. POST, 3/5)....Basketball HOFer KAREEM ABDUL-JABBAR next week “will begin filming” for ABC’s “Splash” reality show (FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 3/5)….Marlins RF GIANCARLO STANTON appeared on last night's episode of E! NAMES: ESPN's CURT SCHILLING on Friday asked Rhode Island Superior Court Judge MICHAEL SILVERSTEIN "to dismiss a state economic development agency's lawsuit" over its $75M loan guarantee for his now-defunct video game company, "calling claims he and fellow executives mislead the agency 'implausible'" (AP, 3/5)....Orioles manager BUCK SHOWALTER yesterday received the Baltimore Sun's '12 Marylander of the Year Award at a ceremony attended by 150 guests, including Orioles Owner PETER ANGELOS (Baltimore SUN, 3/5)....Fox Sports' ERIN ANDREWS last week during Daytona 500 pre-race coverage "brushed off" rapper 50 CENT, but the two "are actually business partners."
