Executive Transactions

The MLBPA promoted Chief Labor Counsel DAVE PROUTY to General Counsel, giving him the second largest role in the union behind Exec Dir MICHAEL WEINER. Weiner formerly held the General Counsel title himself. Sources said the shift is not tied to Weiner's ongoing battle against an inoperable brain tumor, and Weiner remains in the Exec Dir role. Prouty, 54, has been with the MLBPA since '08 and previously was with Unite Here, an int'l union representing clothing, textile, laundry, hotel and restaurant workers. Prouty is just the fourth individual to hold the MLBPA General Cousel role, following Weiner, DON FEHR and RICHARD MOSS (Eric Fisher, Staff Writer).
