Architecture firm Woods Bagot named DAN MEIS Sport Global Dir. Meis will expand his L.A.-based team to include design and technical experts in N.Y., London and Sydney. The new group will continue with Meis’ current projects including an NFL stadium at Grand Crossing in L.A. and a 50,000-seat, multi-use venue for UNLV. He is also leading the conceptual design efforts for a new stadium in Rome for Serie A club AS Roma and Sports City Stadium in Qatar for the men's FIFA World Cup in ’22 (Woods Bagot). Woods Bagot CEO Ross Donaldson said that the firm has “designed some small arenas in Australia and the Middle East but none to the level of sophistication of big league facilities in North America.” Donaldson said that Meis will be “responsible for expanding the firm’s presence in sports overall with a focus on design work for arenas and stadiums in the U.S.” He will “retain his office in Venice” (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 8/20 issue).

EXECS: Octagon named ERIN KANE Dir in the Personalities & Properties group. Kane spent the past six years working in sales and marketing for Gaylord Sports Management and Lagardère Unlimited where she secured partnerships for pro athletes in golf and baseball among other sports (Octagon)....SUNY-Oswego AD TIM HALE retired after nine years in the position (Oswego)....The Cubs announced they have dismissed the following scouts: TOM BOURQUE, JOE HOUSEY, TOM SHAFER, RICHIE ZISK, CHARLIE ALIANO and RICK SCHROEDER (ESPNCHICAGO.com, 8/22).
