Sports Fans In New England Feel Patriots' Kraft Doing Best Job Among Local Owners

New England sports fans feel Patriots Owner Robert Kraft has done the best job among the region's pro team owners over the past five years, according to data from Channel Media & Market Research. Forty-two percent of respondents felt Kraft was doing the best job, while the Celtics ownership group, led by Wyc Grousbeck and Steve Pagliuca, ranked second at 23%. Only 12% of fans felt Red Sox ownership, led by John Henry, Tom Werner and Larry Lucchino, was doing the best job over the last five years. Kraft also was the owner fans admired the most for what he has done for his team and fans over the past five years. Bruins Owner Jeremy Jacobs ranked second. Fans were also asked which of the teams’ leadership (President, GM, CEO, etc.) was doing the best job right now. Patriots President Jonathan Kraft ranked first with 42%, followed by Bruins President Cam Neely and Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge. The “Patriots 5th Quarter” show on WBZ-CBS and TV38 also ranked as fans’ favorite local sports show (21%). NESN’s “Red Sox Gameday” ranked second with 18% (Channel Media & Market Research).

METHODOLOGY: The online poll was conducted among more than 7,200 New England sports fans, ages 18+, from July 22-August 12. Respondents came from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont, with each fan saying they followed at least one of the regional teams at least some of the time.
