The NASCAR Foundation named St. Jude’s Research Hospital Senior Dir of Corporate Alliances LORENE KING Exec Dir (NASCAR). In Daytona, Skyler Swisher reported in a front-page piece that the NASCAR Foundation also “marked a new chapter Monday by opening its headquarters" in the Int'l Motorsports Center office building across the street from Daytona Int'l Speedway. The foundation previously was based in Charlotte. Four employees in the marketing department “will continue to be based in North Carolina to be closer to race teams.” King said that the move “will provide a strategic advantage to the organization because its offices will be closer to board members and NASCAR's corporate headquarters” (Daytona Beach NEWS-JOURNAL, 8/21).

NEW DEPARTMENT: Golf Channel yesterday announced the creation of its Editorial Research Unit. Golf Channel Exec Editor GEOFF RUSSELL will oversee the group, while GIL CAPPS will serve as Managing Editor and will relocate from North Carolina to Golf Channel Studios in Orlando. Capps will continue to work tournaments as part of his new responsibilities for Golf Channel and NBC. The net also named REED BURTON Research Editor (Golf Channel).
