Slive's contract was set to expire on July 31, five days after he turns 72
SEC Commissioner MIKE SLIVE said he will run the conference for "at least a couple more years." The AP's John Zenor noted Slive's contract "was set to expire July 31, five days after he turns 72." Slive is "negotiating new TV deals that figure once again to be the most lucrative in college athletics." The SEC is also "trying to assimilate Texas A&M and Missouri into the now-14-team league." Slive makes "just over" $1M annually (AP, 7/16).

LITTLE COLT: In Indianapolis, Bill McCleery reports Colts Vice Chair CASEY IRSAY FOYT and her husband, A.J. FOYT IV, yesterday welcomed son LOCKEY JAMES FOYT. The baby's middle name "is in honor" of his grandfather, Colts Owner JIM IRSAY, who yesterday offered a contest to his Twitter followers: "Guess weight of my new grandchild, $1000 n Colts Hat n box of fine cigars, 1 guess only, Abby's hatpick, must have guess n by 1215pm!"
