Overnight Ratings: TNT's Sprint Cup Race Flat; CBS' Up At John Deere Classic

Overnight Nielsen ratings for sports telecasts over the weekend were led by the TNT’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Lenox Industrial Tools 301 from New Hampshire Motor Speedway, which was the net’s final Sprint Cup telecast this season. The 2.9 overnight is flat with the same race last season. ESPN earned a 1.3 overnight for the Nationwide Series F.W. Webb 200 from NHMS on Saturday, also flat compared to last year. Broadcast TV sports overnights were led by Fox’ MLB regional coverage, which earned a 2.2 rating for the net's first post-MLB All-Star Game telecast. The coverage, which featured Mets-Braves in 46% of markets, was flat compared to similar regionalized coverage last year. Meanwhile, CBS’ final round of the PGA Tour John Deere Classic earned a 2.1 overnight for Zach Johnson’s win yesterday in a playoff over Troy Matteson. That figure is up 24% from the event's final round last year.
