The USOC will not submit a bid for the ‘22 Winter Games and will instead consider bidding for the ‘24 and ‘26 Olympics. USOC Chair Larry Probst said the decision will give the organization further time to develop relationships with IOC members, which would give it a better chance of winning the right to host the Games. USOC CEO Scott Blackmun said, "Hosting the Games is very important for us. Candidly, I would be very surprised if we didn't submit a bid for either '24 or '26." The USOC approved the creation of a working group that will review whether or not it should bid for the ‘24 or ‘26 Olympics. Members of the working group will come from the board, but USOC leaders have not determined who or how many members will be part of the group. Once selected, they will be tasked with completing their analysis and making a recommendation to the larger board about bidding by the end of the year. The board meeting was conducted by phone and lasted approximately two hours (Tripp Mickle, SportsBusiness Journal). Probst and Blackmun said that they “would name an unspecified number of board members to the group and that those people would attend the London Games this summer to begin their research” (N.Y.
