NASCAR Reaches Three-Year Deal To Keep Champions Week In Las Vegas

NASCAR took its relationship with Las Vegas to “another level” yesterday with the announcement of a three-year deal to keep the Sprint Cup Series Awards and Champions Week in the city, according to Laura Carroll of the LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL. In November, NASCAR will hold its fourth consecutive Champions Week in the city. NASCAR Senior VP & CMO Steve Phelps: “The first three years in Vegas were very successful for the sport overall. The city is a great backdrop for our sport to serve as our championship city” (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 5/7). In this week’s SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, Tripp Mickle writes financial terms “weren’t available, but that the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is paying NASCAR to bring the event back to the city.” As it did last year, NASCAR will be hosting the awards ceremony at the Wynn on Nov. 30 (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 5/7 issue).
