EPL Club Norwich City Unveils New Home Kits, Four-Year Shirt Deal With Aviva

EPL club Norwich City yesterday "announced an extended sponsorship deal with Aviva," and the four-year shirt deal "means the longest commercial partnership in the club's history," spanning eight years to '16, according to Donovan Blake of ITV.com. The club unveiled its "new home kit for next season while also launching a new supporters scheme 'Global Canaries,' making use of social media and the worldwide attraction of the Premier League." The new home kit "will be the club's third in the last three years." However,  club CEO David McNally said, "All big teams have one-year kit cycles." Aviva U.K. Marketing Dir Anne Filatotchev said, "We've had great UK awareness through our sponsorships, so having our names on the shirts and having the support of the club has been great for the Aviva brand." Terms of the deal were not disclosed (ITV.com, 4/18). In England, David Freezer notes the home kit has a "different style collar and a new yellow streak on the shorts." Some club supporters have "questioned the need for a new home kit, following the popularity of this season’s yellow strip -- which McNally confirmed had sold more than double the best selling shirt in the club’s history." But McNally "insisted the new kit was simply a result of the high profile the club is now enjoying" (Norfolk EASTERN DAILY PRESS, 4/19). Norwich "also launched a viral video" featuring club Dir Stephen Fry to publicize the green and yellow kit (London SUN, 4/19).
