In L.A., Dylan Hernandez notes Baseball HOF broadcaster Vin Scully will "miss his third consecutive" Dodgers game tonight. A team spokesperson said that the Dodgers are "unsure of when Scully will return," calling the Baseball HOFer "day to day." Meanwhile, Jorge Jarrin, son of Baseball HOF Spanish-language broadcaster Jaime Jarrin, yesterday "called his first game in the Dodgers' Spanish telecast." Time Warner is "carrying the Spanish-language telecasts," which are produced by FS Prime Ticket, and will number 50 in total (L.A. TIMES, 4/12).

DOMINO EFFECT: In San Diego, Brent Schrotenboer notes the "recent demise of the Mountain West television network has left San Diego State in a bit of a lurch." Schrotenboer asks, "Now that the network is being canceled on May 31, who will televise the Aztecs instead?" SDSU is "looking at a number of possibilities for its final season in the Mountain West." The "best option is the CBS Sports Network, which owns the Mtn. along with NBC Universal." CBSSN "still has rights to Mountain West games and is working on a deal to add coverage for the league." For games not picked up by CBSSN and NBC Sports Network, SDSU has "had discussions with three local alternatives: Fox Sports San Diego, the new Time Warner regional sports network and Channel 4 San Diego" (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 4/12).

THE INSIDE SCOOP: In Newark, Tom Luicci notes a TV documentary "offering a rare look into the inner workings of spring football at Rutgers -- from team meetings and meals to the practices -- will air in May on SNY, the Comcast Network, MASN and Sun Sports." Entitled "RFootball: 15 Days of Spring," the unnarrated documentary runs 60 minutes. It is a "production of Rutgers Athletics and Mind Over Media, the production company for the R Football Show" (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 4/12).

SILICON VALLEY-OOP: Warriors investor and Tibco Software CEO Vivek Ranadive said that the team has released a free iPhone app that will allow fans to be "part of the (team) experience whether in the arena or on the couch or walking through an airport." In S.F., Eric Young noted fans will be "able to read news and watch exclusive video." The app will "also alert users to special offers and allow them to take part in polls." Ranadive said that it will "eventually allow users to order food during the game for pick up at concession stands." The Warriors said that they will "release an app for phones using the Android operating system by the beginning of next season" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 4/11).
