Payne leaving position as President of Business Ops
An MLS Galaxy spokesperson said President of Business Operations TOM PAYNE is "transitioning out of the organization." NHL Kings COO CHRIS MCGOWAN "steps in as the club's COO while continuing in his position with the hockey team, which, like the Galaxy, is owned by AEG." Payne's departure comes after Galaxy Communications Dir PATRICK DONNELLY "exited Monday." The moves, which "appear to be dismissals, are part of a larger reorganization within AEG that has not been announced" (ESPNLA.com, 2/16).

OUT IN OAKLAND: The Raiders "have parted ways" with Senior Exec JOHN HERRERA, who "has served the organization as a spokesman and in a front office capacity for the better part of his adult life." A source said that the decision "was made on the business side of the Oakland operation." Herrera "joined the Raiders out of high school, hired by owner AL DAVIS" (OAKLAND TRIBUNE, 2/17). In Oakland, Jerry McDonald wrote, "Herrera showed up to work every day, even through times of immense personal tragedy, and backed his boss, Al Davis." The "common perception" was that Herrera was "perennially at war with the media and those who criticized Davis," but that "couldn't be farther from the truth" (IBABUZZ.com, 1/16).

AROUND THE WORLD: Brazilian Football Confederation President RICARDO TEIXEIRA "will step down" after 23 years in charge. Teixeira, who also is in charge of Brazil's preparations for the '14 World Cup, is "embroiled in corruption allegations" (London DAILY MAIL, 2/17)....Qatar-based Int'l Center for Sport Security named FIFA Security Dir CHRIS EATON Dir of Sport Integrity (AP, 2/17)....Rio 2016 Communications Chief CARLOS VILLANOVA said that Chief Commercial Officer FLAVIO PESTANA has resigned due to "personal reasons" (AROUNDTHERINGS.com, 2/17).

Valley State Univ. AD PERCY CALDWELL to the same position (GSU)....Palm Beach Atlantic Univ. named CAROLYN STONE AD (PALMBEACHPOST.com, 2/16)....Honolulu's ESPN Radio affiliates have named Cox Radio Hawaii VP & GM MIKE KELLY President & GM (BIZJOURNALS.com, 2/14)....Premiere Global Sports named PETER ROSENBERGER VP/Corporate Division (THE DAILY)....The Women's Sports Foundation named U.S. women's hockey D ANGELA RUGGIERO President-elect.
