YES Tops RSNs In Total-Day HHs In '11; NESN, CSN Philadelphia Tops In Primetime

YES Network led all RSNs in ’11 with an average of 30,000 HHs on a total-day basis, while NESN and Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia tied for the top spot in primetime with an average of 73,000 HHs. YES was the most-viewed RSN on a total-day basis for the ninth straight year, with its average N.Y. audience topping SNY (14,000 HHs), MSG (8,000 HHs) and MSG Plus (3,000 HHs). However, YES lost the top primetime spot to NESN and CSN Philadelphia. The growth for NESN was fueled by a 34% jump in HHs for Red Sox telecasts last season and 48% jump for Bruins telecasts last season. CSN Philadelphia saw a 16% jump for Phillies games, a 9% jump for Flyers games and a 33% increase for 76ers games last season. YES saw average HHs for Yankees games down 5% last season, while Nets games last season were flat. Listed below are the top RSNs for ’11, ranked by HHs, in both total-day (6:00-2:00am) and primetime (7:00pm-11:00pm) (THE DAILY).

NOTES: Period of measurement for '11 was from Dec. 27, 2010 through Dec. 25, 2011. Periods of exclusion for NESN in the Boston market include Aug. 28-29 and Oct. 29-Nov. 1 due to severe storms. For YES Network and SNY in N.Y., exclusion periods were Aug. 28-30 and Oct. 29-31 due to severe storms. The Philadelphia market also had periods of exclusion from Aug. 27-28 and Oct. 29-31 due to severe weather.
