Dodgers Trying To Block FSN's Desired Stay Concerning TV Rights Auction

The legal back-and-forth between the Dodgers and FSN continued Thursday night, as the club filed documents with the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, seeking to block a stay FSN wants applied to an accelerated auction for the club's cable TV rights. The Dodgers told the court the FSN bid for the stay represents "nothing more than an attempt to delay ... and derail" the developing sale for the team. FSN late Wednesday filed its motion for the stay, pending an appeal, saying a bankruptcy court decision permitting the accelerated auction is "legally unprecedented." But in the latest filing, the Dodgers said the bankruptcy court ruling, resetting Fox' exclusive negotiating window from late next year to a new period of Nov. 30, 2011, to Jan. 19, 2012, was both legally sound and that a stay might "disrupt the exclusive, confidential and good faith negotiations that may lead to an agreement between [the Dodgers] and Fox." FSN in a statement responded, "In no way are we hindering the sale of the Dodgers franchise. Any statement to the contrary is an attempt to confuse the issue." The District Court has not laid out any timetable to hear the dispute.
