Ole Miss Chancellor DAN JONES has announced the departure of AD PETE BOONE and football coach HOUSTON NUTT. Former NFLer ARCHIE MANNING and FedEx Exec VP MIKE GLENN will co-chair a committee for hiring replacements for both men. Boone, the Ole Miss AD for 13 years over two separate stints, "has been the target of criticism from fans upset by the poor performance over the last two years by Rebel athletic teams" (CLARIONLEDGER.com, 11/7). A specific timetable for the AD search "has not yet been determined" (CSTV.com, 11/7). Jones "hasn't decided on the makeup of the athletic director search committee" (Memphis COMMERCIAL APPEAL, 11/8).

EXECS: Kansas State Univ. promoted REID SIGMON to Senior Associate AD and COO, JILL SHIELDS to Senior Associate AD and Senior Woman Administrator and KENNY LANNOU to Assistant AD for Communications (KSU)....Former WNBA Mercury President & GM ANN MEYERS DRYSDALE will move into the role of VP. AMBER COX, who "was to leave the Mercury at the end of the 2011 season to return to her alma mater," William Woods Univ. as AD, will remain as the team's President & COO. Coach COREY GAINES will add the title of GM (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 11/8)....Hillerich & Bradsby Co., parent company of the Louisville Slugger brand, named LAWRENCE WRITER COO and CFO (Hillerich & Bradsby)....SMI promoted JESSICA FICKENSCHER to VP/Special Projects (SMI)....Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment named PREBEN GANZHORN Dir of Marketing & Community for MLS Toronto FC (MLSE)....The Cubs named D'Backs scout JOE BOHRINGER Dir of Pro Scouting (MLB.com, 11/7)....ScoreBig.com named BILL ASHTON VP (THE DAILY).
