DAILY VARIETY's Rick Kissell reported Eagles-Falcons "SNF" and the finale of "America's Got Talent" carried NBC to a "comfortable primetime ratings victory in the week leading into the start of the new television season." Football telecasts "claimed the week's top three spots in 18-49," with the Eagles-Falcons game "easily the top draw," earning a 10.0 rating in the demo. The "SNF" rating was "once again ahead of the same week last year." ESPN also "did well" with its "MNF" doubleheader last week, with Patriots-Dolphins earning a 6.3 in 18-49 and Raiders-Broncos pulling in a 5.4 in the demo (DAILY VARIETY, 9/21)....MSG Networks yesterday formally announced that Steve Cangialosi will succeed Mike Emrick as the play-by-play announcer for Devils games, joining Glenn Resch in the booth. Deb Placey will replace Cangialosi as Devils host and rinkside reporter (MSG Networks)....Dale Arnold is returning to NESN after a four-year absence as the network's Bruins studio host. Arnold will host all of NESN's pregame, intermission and postgame Bruins coverage. The net also signed Bruins reporter Naoko Funayama to a contract extension (NESN)....Rogers Sportsnet has reached a five-year deal with the AHL for the Canadian rights to the AHL All-Star Classic, beginning this season (Rogers Sportsnet).

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown. SBJ’s Tom Friend also joins the show to share his insights into NBA viewership trends.
