Nominees Named For MLB's Man Of The Year, Roberto Clemente Awards

Both MLB and the MLBPA have named nominees for their respective awards honoring sportsmanship and community involvement by players. The six nominees this year for the union's annual Marvin Miller Man of the Year Award, which also includes a component of on-field excellence, are Yankees P DAVID ROBERTSON, White Sox 1B PAUL KONERKO, Rangers 2B MICHAEL YOUNG, Mets 3B DAVID WRIGHT, Cardinals P ADAM WAINWRIGHT and Rockies SS TROY TULOWITZKI. Fans selected the six nominees through online polling, and the final winner will be chosen by fellow MLB players. MLB, meanwhile, has nominated one player for each team for the Roberto Clemente Award, a Chevrolet-sponsored recognition honoring positive contributions to the game on and off the field. The list of nominees includes a dozen players from the '11 All-Star Game, most notably Yankees P CC SABATHIA, Red Sox DH DAVID ORTIZ, Tigers P JUSTIN VERLANDER and Dodgers P CLAYTON KERSHAW. Both the Marvin Miller and Roberto Clemente Award winners will be announced during the World Series.
