While it is "unclear whether the Cowboys will return" to the Alamodome for training camp next year, Cowboys COO, Exec VP & Dir of Player Personnel Stephen Jones yesterday indicated that San Antonio "would be included in any conversation the club has about its future camp plans," according to Tom Orsborn of the SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS. Jones said there were "no negatives" to training in San Antonio. He said, "The Alamodome is just a fabulous place. It's been good to us, and San Antonio is super, and training here makes a lot of sense. But we are going to get back home and really get into what our future needs to be. And all of that needs to be done sooner rather than later." San Antonio Dir of Convention, Sports & Entertainment Facilities Mike Sawaya said, "They have choices where they want to train, and those are Arlington; Oxnard, Calif.; and San Antonio. What we know is that they love being here." Orsborn notes the Cowboys "split camp between San Antonio and Oxnard in 2010 partly because they had five preseason games," and Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones "didn't rule out returning to such a format." While San Antonio "holds a marketing advantage fueled by its robust camp attendance, Oxnard's grass fields and their proximity to the team hotel are pluses that can't be ignored." Cowboys Stadium in Arlington is "also in the mix," although a team source said that the "configuration of the field at the $1.2 billion facility makes it difficult to accommodate a 90-man camp roster" (SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS, 8/9).
