Hearing Regarding Quinn's Representation Postponed As Parties Try To Settle

A court hearing on a motion to issue a restraining order preventing certain agents from negotiating a deal with Rams first-round draft pick Robert Quinn has been postponed until later this month while the parties work try to settle the matter. NFL agent Carl Carey asked a Houston federal judge to postpone a hearing on his request to prevent fellow agents Mitch Frankel and Tony Fleming from dealing with the Rams on Quinn's contract after Quinn fired him. Carey Thursday told SportsBusiness Journal that he hopes to resolve the matter before the next court hearing, which is set for Aug. 23. "I can say that my desire is to resolve it and there is another court date set," Carey said. "It's been set for August 23. Obviously I want Robert to be in a position to move on and I would like to move on and the hope is that things can be worked out prior to that date," Carey said. Attempts to reach Fleming and Frankel were unsuccessful. Frankel on Monday said that neither he nor Fleming, his partner in Impact Sports, represented Quinn, who fired Carey on July 22.
