What's Up For The Weekend With NBA D-League Texas Legends' Nancy Lieberman
Published July 22, 2011
Q: What are your plans for this weekend?
Lieberman: I’m finishing up my fourth week of summer basketball camp in Dallas, and then flying to San Antonio for the WNBA All-Star Weekend.
Q: What are you really looking forward to this weekend? Anything special planned?
Lieberman: I’m looking forward to reading to the children at Fort Sam Houston Joint Base as part of the BBVA Compass Reading Counts initiative for WNBA Cares. In addition, I will be hosting the BBVA Compass Visionary Team Leaders Luncheon at the AT&T Center, where we will be honoring local leaders in education, business and the community.
Q: What do you like to watch and read on the weekend?
Lieberman: I am in the middle of reading TONY DUNGY’s inspirational book “Quiet Strength,” and a business book by HARVEY MACKAY titled, “Swim with the Sharks Without Being Eaten Alive.” I definitely like to watch sports on the weekend, I enjoy catching up on episodes of “Law & Order,” and watching the History Channel.
Q: What workout routines or activities do you like to do on the weekend?
Lieberman: I am pretty regimented during the week with my gym workouts. So, on the weekends I like to play golf, tennis, ping-pong, ride my bike outdoors, or play stickball with my son.
Q: What is the one thing our readers would be most surprised you do on the weekend?
Lieberman: Cook. I’m a self-proclaimed chef and I’ve been to cooking schools. I love to cook for my friends and family.
Q: Best weekend ever?
Lieberman: In May I took my mother to Israel for Mother's Day Weekend. It was more than a weekend, it was a lifetime of memories.
Q: Favorite weekend getaway?
Lieberman: Phoenix, Ariz. I have a home there, and the weather is warm and I love to golf.
Q: Guilty weekend pleasure?
Lieberman: Not answering my BlackBerry, and listening to music.
Q: Favorite local restaurant?
Lieberman: Ruth’s Chris Steak House in North Dallas off the Tollway.
Q: Do you have any routine weekend chores?
Lieberman: Yes! I’m OCD, so every Sunday I do all the laundry (wash, fold and put it away). I run the dishwasher, make sure the house is neat and that my car is filled up with gas for the week ahead.
Q: What is your favorite local nightlife activity?
Lieberman: Most often if I have a free weekend, it’s going to dinner and a movie with friends and family. I’m not a big bar and club person.
Q: Favorite restaurant on the road?
Lieberman: I like The Palm because my caricatures are up in all the restaurants. Just kidding … sorta. I do like the food.
Q: What do you usually do to pass time on a plane?
Lieberman: If I’m not reading or watching a movie, I have the American Airlines red blanket over my head trying to sleep. If you happen to see me with a red blanket over my head, please don’t pull it off. I really need the sleep, I only sleep about four hours a night.
