Husky Tab: Univ. Of Washington Seeking $50M For Naming Rights To Football Field

The Univ. of Washington is asking for $50M for a "naming opportunity" to the field at Husky Stadium, which will be "renovated for the 2013 football season," according to Bob Condotta of the SEATTLE TIMES. The school indicated that for $50M, an "individual, family or foundation would have its name on the field at Husky Stadium 'in perpetuity.'" If no individual or family agrees to a deal, UW will "turn to corporations for possible shorter-term naming-rights deals for the field at a price to be determined." The school said that it "will not sell the name of the stadium itself." UW Senior Associate AD/Development Jennifer Cohen said that the price for the field naming rights "was in line with a university policy that applies to libraries or any other building on campus -- roughly 50 percent of the cost of the structure." Condotta reported UW is also "offering naming opportunities for many other aspects of the renovations, such as the Football Operations Building, which is the next priciest at $10 million" (SEATTLE TIMES, 6/25).
