MLB has created theme days for each of the five-day run of FanFest, part of an overall effort to boost attendance at the interactive All-Star Game fan attraction. This year's event, slated for July 8-12 at the Phoenix Convention Center, will begin with Military Appreciation Day on Day 1 in which special military programs will be held to honor U.S. Armed Forces. The second day will be Heritage Day to celebrate Arizona's varied cultures. The third day will be Kids Day featuring youth-themed giveaways, musical acts, face painting and other attractions. The fourth day will be Hall of Fame Monday featuring appearances and Q&A sessions with several HOFers. And the final day will be Championship Tuesday celebrating the 10th anniversary of the host D'Backs' '01 World Series title. The themed events will be in addition to the usual mix of attractions and games at FanFest. Last year's FanFest in Anaheim drew an attendance of 118,429, but with the presale this year already exceeding 100,000, MLB and D'Backs officials are aiming to surpass that '10 number.
