Memorial Coliseum Commission Events Manager TODD DESTEFANO "collected tens of thousands of dollars in private payments from liquor and soft drink companies, television and movie firms, rave promoters and other interests that did business with the agency." DeStefano "entered into the lucrative arrangements with several of the enterprises while representing the Coliseum and companion Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena in their dealings with the companies." He has "denied that he did anything wrong" (L.A. TIMES, 6/9).

AROUND THE HORN: A group led by former MLBer RAFAEL PALMEIRO that "planned a 162-acre mixed-use development" in Grapevine, Texas, "has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection" in Ft. Worth. In federal bankruptcy court filings, Palmeiro is listed as Manager of both The Gardens of Grapevine Development L.P. and the Gardens of Grapevine Development GP LLC (FT.
