ECHL Attendance Drops 3.3%; Ontario Reign Top League For Second Straight Season

The ECHL, considered the Double-A level of North American hockey, saw its clubs average 4,339 fans per game during the regular season, down 3.3% from the '09-10 campaign. Thirteen of 19 clubs saw a drop in attendance this season, lead by the South Carolina Stingrays' decline of 29.5% at North Charleston Coliseum. The Ontario (Calif.) Reign led the ECHL in attendance for the second straight season. The club averaged 6,683 fans per game in its third season in Southern California, up 3.6%. Following a move to South Carolina from Johnstown, Pa., after last season, the Greenville Road Warriors saw the ECHL's biggest jump at the gate (+78%). The Utah Grizzlies set a team record with 4,550 fans per game, up 10.5% at the Maverik Center just outside of Salt Lake City. The club also broke its single-game home attendance record in the regular-season finale with 10,700 fans. The Cincinnati Cyclones posted their fourth consecutive season of attendance growth at U.S. Bank Arena.
