  • AHL Sees Best Attendance Average Since '06-07; Hershey Bears Set Record At The Gate

    The AHL, considered the triple-A level of North American hockey, saw its clubs average 5,380 fans per game this season, up 5.5% from last season and the league's best mark since '06-07. The Hershey Bears set a league attendance record with 9,800 fans per game, up 2.9% from last season. Hershey has led the league in attendance for the last five seasons. The Connecticut Whale, rebranded after playing as the Hartford Wolf Pack from '97-'10, saw the biggest jump in attendance this season (+36%). Despite finishing with the lowest average in the AHL, the Albany Devils saw attendance jump 24.7% compared to last season, when the club played in Lowell, Mass. The Adirondack Phantoms saw the sharpest drop at the gate (-11%) during their second season in Glen Falls, N.Y. The team is schedule to spend two more seasons in Glen Falls before an expected move to Allentown, Pa.
