What's Up For The Weekend With NHL Exec VP/Marketing Brian Jennings

Ever wonder how executives in sports business spend their weekends? THE DAILY this week continues "What's Up For The Weekend," providing readers with an inside look at people in our industry. This week, we catch up with NHL Exec VP/Marketing BRIAN JENNINGS, who chatted with Staff Writer Theresa Manahan.

Q: What are your plans for this weekend?
Jennings: Plans for the weekend entail plenty of time with the kids, primarily running around soccer fields, followed by massive consumption of hockey considering this is the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Q: What do you like to watch and read on the weekend?
Jennings: I read the Wall Street Journal weekend edition, and then it’s typically children’s books that can range from the Alex Rider series with my son and Pinkalicious and My Little Pony with my daughter.

Q: What workout routines or activities do you like to do on the weekend?
Jennings: I love to go to Chuck’s Healthmart in Greenwich. They have the best protein shakes and veggie hummus sandwiches on the avenue. As for working out, while I’m not a gym rat, I do enjoy spinning and free weights.

Q: What is the one thing our readers would be most surprised you do on the weekend?
Jennings: Funny enough, I enjoy doing the food shopping on the weekends for the family. You can usually find me at Whole Foods wandering the isles.

Q: Favorite weekend getaway?
Jennings: Block Island -- a little known, and less commercialized, island off of Rhode Island

Q: Guilty weekend pleasure?
Jennings: Darlene’s homemade ice cream, hands down.

Q: Favorite local restaurant?
Jennings: Little Italian place called Pasquale in Port Chester that I like to take my family to on Saturdays, and if the weather permits, we like to eat outside.

Q: What is your favorite local nightlife activity?
Jennings: As a married father of two, my favorite Saturday night activity is being on the couch with the kids and my wife watching "Hockey Night in Canada."

Q: Must-see weekend game?
Jennings: Obviously, I watch all the Stanley Cup Playoff games, but BOBBY ORR had a profound impact on my life-long love of hockey. Which, consequentially, has led to me watching a few Bruins games here and there. This Saturday night, Boston hosts Montreal in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. No other two NHL teams have met each other more in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. It’s a fierce and entertaining rivalry, but that said, every game in the Playoffs is a must-watch.
