Rio 2016 Inks Brazilian Consortium As Telecommunications Sponsor

The Brazil-based consortium of Embratel and Claro has been named the official telecommunications partner of the '16 Rio Games (Rio 2016). INSIDETHEGAMES.biz' Duncan Mackay noted the consortium is the "second multi-million dollar Tier One sponsor" for the '16 Games. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed, but the two companies are "set to have paid at least more than double" the US$130M that BT did to be the Tier One sponsor in the same category for the '12 London Games.
