Real Madrid Tops List Of Highest-Earning Soccer Clubs For Sixth Straight Season

Spanish La Liga club Real Madrid is the world's highest-earning soccer team for the sixth straight year, with '09-10 revenue reaching $593.6M (all figures U.S.), according to annual rankings compiled by Deloitte. The EPL had seven teams in the top 20 for revenue last season, the most of any league. The German Bundesliga and Italian Serie A each had four clubs on the list. EPL club Manchester City saw the biggest jump, moving up nine spots to 11th despite missing out the UEFA Champions League. The biggest drop among the top 20 belonged to Serie A club AS Roma, which missed out on European competition for the first time in four years. Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart and EPL club Aston Villa returned to the top 20 list this year after one-year and five-year absences, respectively. Falling out of the top 20 were two Bundesliga clubs -- Werder Bremen and Dortmund. Real Madrid and EPL club Manchester United were the only clubs in the top 20 that did not rely on one source for at least 40% of their total revenue. The clubs in the top 20 generated $2.6B in TV revenue last season, which accounted for 44% of their total revenue. Listed below are the 20 wealthiest soccer clubs in the world in terms of revenue from the '09-10 season, with comparisons to '08-09 (Deloitte).
