ECHL Attendance Down 2.9%; Cincinnati Cyclones Continue Gains

The ECHL, considered the Double-A level of North American hockey, is averaging 4,052 fans per game this season, down 2.9% from the same period last year. The Ontario (Calif.) Reign lead all ECHL clubs with 6,207 fans per game, up 5.2% from a year ago. The Greenville Road Warriors, who last season played as the Johnstown (Pa.) Chiefs, have seen attendance increase 76.8% during their first season at the BI-LO Center in South Carolina. The Cincinnati Cyclones, the reigning ECHL Kelly Cup champions, saw the league's biggest attendance jump last year and are continuing to see gains at the gate this season -- up 7.7% to date at U.S. Bank Arena. Two ECHL clubs -- the South Carolina Stingrays and Wheeling Nailers -- are seeing double-digit percentage drops in attendance. Listed below is attendance for each ECHL club through Jan. 27, with comparisons to the same period last year (THE DAILY).
