The MLB Rangers have hired JOE JANUSZEWSKI, formerly of the Red Sox and Fenway Enterprises, as Exec VP/Business Partnerships & Development, the latest in a series of senior executive moves by new owners CHUCK GREENBERG and NOLAN RYAN. Januszewski spent eight years in Boston, most recently as Senior VP/Corporate Sales, and he was part of the leadership team executing the acquisition of Liverpool FC on behalf of New England Sports Ventures. Januszewski also formerly worked for the Padres and had a prior stint with the Rangers in '99. His hire follows those of RICK GEORGE, TODD TAYLOR and JAY MILLER by Greenberg and Ryan in recent months (Eric Fisher, SportsBusiness Journal).
EXECS: MSG Sports formally announced GREG ECONOMOU's appointment to the newly created position of Exec VP/Revenue Performance. Economou, who previously served as Managing Dir & CEO of Charlotte-based Brandthink, will oversee MSG Sports' marketing partnerships, suite sales and service, and digital sales/new media revenues (MSG)....The Indians have hired former player and manager MIKE HARGROVE as a Special Advisor for the '11 season. Hargrove will assist the coaching staff in Spring Training, appear occasionally on SportsTime Ohio game broadcasts, and aid in club business, community and charitable endeavors (Fisher)....The N.Y. Cosmos have hired former Manchester United F ERIC CANTONA as Dir of Soccer (PA, 1/19)....ESPN Radio 710 L.A. has hired Alacon Ventures Managing Partner SCOTT MCCARTHY as GM. McCarthy will work closely with ESPNLA.com and studio production (ESPN Radio)....Speed has promoted the following: ERIK SHIRMER to Producer, JACKSON GARDNER to Associate Producer, BRIAN BUCHAUER to Associate Producer, ZACH GRANDLE to Associate Manager of Events, MELISSA REITANO to Manager of On-Air Strategy & Planning, PAUL WILSON to Associate Dir of On-Air Branding and MATT SCOGGINS to Associate Writer & Producer (Speed)....Easton Hockey has hired TaylorMade-adidas National Dir of Sales TOM COPELAND as Western Sales Manager for Easton Hockey U.S. (Easton)....The Annika Foundation named TATJANA CHENOWETH Dir of Development (THE DAILY)....SMG has hired SHARON SCHUSTER as Controller & Dir of Finance for the Cobo Center in Detroit. Schuster previously served as Controller for the City of St. Clair Shores, Mich. (SMG).
