Minnesota Gov. MARK DAYTON Friday named TED MONDALE Chair of the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission. The appointment is "seen as a strong signal by Dayton that the state must find a way to build a new stadium with the Vikings, whose lease at the crippled Metrodome ends this year." Mondale, the son of former U.S. Vice President WALTER MONDALE, is a "boyhood friend" of NFL Commissioner ROGER GOODELL (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 1/15).
