  • IMG College Acquires Ticketing Consultancy The DiFebo Co.

IMG College has acquired The DiFebo Co., a ticketing consultancy and outsourcing business “that will be wrapped into a new division of the burgeoning college division,” according to Michael Smith of SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. Matt DiFebo’s company will become part of IMG College Business Ventures, “a newly named umbrella for all of IMG College’s units not related to its core businesses of multimedia rights or licensing.” IMG projects leader Mark Dyer will lead the new business ventures division as Senior VP of IMG College, and will report directly to IMG College President Ben Sutton. Janeen Lalik will report to Dyer as the business ventures unit's VP/Business Development. The creation of business ventures, along with an expanded national sales team, represents Sutton’s “first tangible departmental restructuring.” DiFebo’s ticketing will be one of four lines of business that report to Dyer, along with events and hospitality, stadium and arena planning and financing, and stadium seating. Dyer: “We see a real need for the ticketing business as universities are under a lot of pressure with staffing, payroll and the need to generate additional revenue from ticketing.” In addition to the new units, Senior VP/U.S. Business Development Lawton Logan is “building a beefier national sales team of 15 to 20 people that will sell IMG College’s 85 schools as a national buy.” DiFebo, who will move into IMG College’s HQs in Winston-Salem, N.C., founded his company in '09. He will continue with IMG as chief of the ticketing division, although an exact title has not been finalized" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 1/17 issue).
