The NHL and the Hurricanes will hold a three-day event entitled NHL All-Star Wide Open from Jan. 28-30 in conjunction with the NHL All-Star Game in Raleigh. Among the events will be the NHL Fan Fair, a hockey fan festival featuring interactive games, attractions and special appearances that will be held at the Raleigh Convention Center. Another event will be All-Star Live @ the Amphitheater. The event, to be held at the Downtown Raleigh Amphitheater, will feature a series of free concerts from regional and int'l acts, including a Friday show by Three Doors Down. A street party will be held Jan. 28-29, and a charity All-Star 5K will be held on Jan. 29 (Hurricanes). Billy Warden Communications & Imagination Group Principal Billy Warden, who is "helping to market" NHL All-Star Wide Open, said that "warming stations with music and hot chocolate will be scattered throughout downtown Raleigh." There also are "talks about running shuttles from the convention center to the RBC Center on the weekend of the game" (Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER, 12/9).
