ESPNRadio.com Continues To See Strong Growth In Visitors
Published December 21, 2010
ESPNRadio.com generated about 1.5 million unique listeners in November, more than double its November '09 audience, and 1.62 million unique visitors in October, continuing a marked growth curve this year for the digital audio outpost of the sports media giant. ESPN podcast downloads have grown by 30% this year, surpassing 15 million in each of the past two months. Bill Simmons' "BS Report" alone was downloaded more than 5 million times last month, with "Fantasy Football Focus" coming in with 2.5 million downloads. The increase is owed in part to a new search mechanism through which users can much more easily find audio files for desired topics. "We've seen a tremendous amount of growth this year for both our live and downloadable audio products, and we're now delivering a much more personalized experience," said ESPN Digital Media VP/Strategic Partnerships & Revenue Development Marc Horine. ESPN Digital Media and ESPN Radio are now developing a second iteration of the ESPN Radio iPhone application for release around Super Bowl XLV in February, with new features including enhanced customization and push notifications.
