The sixth annual SportsBusiness Daily/SportsBusiness Journal Reader Survey is in the books, and nearly 2,000 voters told us what they think about the issues and people driving the industry. Soccer continues to grow in stature, as the FIFA World Cup was voted as the sports business story of the year. Meanwhile, readers claim rising ticket prices pose the biggest threat to sports, followed by a disconnect with the fan base. Readers also are using social media more, though growth appears to be moderate.
METHODOLOGY: Voting was conducted over three weeks starting Sept. 27, with polling via SportsBusinessDaily.com and SportsBusinessJournal.com. Only the top vote-getters are listed, and the results have been rounded.
