Rangers Fans Arrive At Ballpark For World
Series Game Four Without Major Traffic Issues
MLB Rangers officials were pleased with the traffic ingress and parking flow for last night's World Series Game Four, which was played seven hours after the Jaguars-Cowboys game began at Cowboys Stadium. The Rangers have played home games on the same day as Cowboys Stadium events on several occasions since the football stadium opened in '09, but not with the record-setting baseball crowds the World Series is generating. The Rangers for nearly a week advised fans not to arrive at the Arlington sports and entertainment complex between 3:00-4:30pm CT yesterday, thereby avoiding the brunt of Cowboys traffic. That message appears to have been generally heeded, and the Cowboys' ugly 35-17 loss to the Jaguars additionally helped spread out the exiting football traffic with many early departures. "It was great. No real problems at all," said Rangers Exec VP/Ballpark Operations Rob Matwick. "We've opened up our gates an hour earlier [than the regular season], and every day, people have been lined up well before that opening time." The Rangers also received parking cooperation from the Cowboys and neighboring Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor. "They've all been great," Matwick said. "The Cowboys were accepting people parking for our game as their lots cleared out, and we've had our employees for the postseason up at Hurricane Harbor and shuttling from there." The Cowboys game drew an attendance of 81,395. Yesterday marked the third consecutive year and fourth time in seven years a World Series game and NFL game were played in the same city on the same day.
