SuperLiga Tournament Sees 10% Increase In Attendance From '09

The SuperLiga soccer tournament, which features four clubs from Mexico's Primera Division and four clubs from MLS, averaged 9,989 fans in '10 for 15 games, up 10.3% from an average of 9,514 fans per game last year. This season's iteration featured two doubleheaders in the group stage, including the tournament's top draw on July 17 at Toyota Park. Last year's tournament had three doubleheaders, including the semifinal matches. Prior to '09, all matches were played as single games. Wednesday night's championship match at Gillette Stadium featuring Monarcas Morelia and the MLS Revolution drew a crowd of 10,414 fans, down from last year's sellout crowd of 20,000 at Toyota Park for the final between Tigres UANL and the MLS Fire.
