| Geico Will Title Sponsor New Parking Deck Outside Of Magic's Amway Center |
The Magic have signed Geico as the "fourth founding partner" for their $480M Amway Center that opens in October, according to Don Muret of SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. Geico "signed a five-year deal valued in seven figures annually," and Magic President Alex Martins said that in return the company gets "naming rights to a seven-level parking garage being built next to the arena and a skywalk connecting the two buildings." Geico also is the "title sponsor of the 15-minute halftime countdown clock," and Martins said that during halftime, Geico's logos will "appear on all concourse and club level signs and in the arena restaurant." Geico also will receive "brand exposure on two outdoor signs, the arena marquee and a digital billboard on the building's east wall facing Interstate 4." Geico "has been a team sponsor for 12 years," and Martins said that the company will "continue to receive exclusive brand exposure in the automotive, boat, RV and motorcycle insurance categories after the team moves into Amway Center" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 8/30 issue). In Orlando, Linda Florea notes Geico joins PepsiCo, AirTran and Harris Corp. as "top-level sponsors" of the new arena (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 8/31).
