Liverpool, ManU Begin EPL Season With Record Shirt Sponsor Deals

The '10-11 EPL season begins on Saturday, and Liverpool and Manchester United are rolling out new shirt deals with Standard Chartered bank and Aon Corp., respectively. The new deals help bring the total annual value of all EPL shirt sponsorships to just over $155M (all figures U.S.), a record level for the league, and up from around $112M last year, according to data from research firm Sporting Intelligence. Three clubs have deals less than $1M per season. West Bromwich, which was promoted to the EPL for the '10-11 season, signed their deal with insurance/residential-repair company Homeserve after going two seasons without a permanent sponsor.
