Jockeying For Position
The bargaining session Thursday between the NBA and the NBPA contains what are being called “modest breakthroughs” on some larger issues, but “little progress” is made in the ongoing CBA talks. Several top players -- including LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul -- unexpectedly attend the get-together, which is described as less contentious than the previous meeting held around the All-Star Game. However, sources say team owners are “hunkered down” on the idea of shorter contracts and less guaranteed money. In other offseason NBA news, the bidders for the Pistons may be up to four -- George Postolos is renewing his quest for an NBA team after meeting with Pistons brass, while Platinum Equity Chair Tom Gores reportedly has been approached to buy the team.
