FS Oklahoma Becomes Exclusive Local TV Home For Thunder Games
Published August 4, 2010
The Thunder and FS Southwest "have agreed on a multiyear partnership that makes Fox Sports Oklahoma the sole local and regional" TV home for the team's games, according to John Rohde of the DAILY OKLAHOMAN. With the exception of nationally televised games on ABC, ESPN and TNT, FS Oklahoma "will broadcast the Thunder's entire 82-game regular-season schedule." FS Southwest Senior VP & GM Jon Heidtke said that the team's 50-win season and playoff appearance "helped spur the agreement." Heidtke: "There was a bump (in ratings) from the previous season. Where the numbers really took off was when the team made the playoffs. It was almost Oklahoma Sooneresque (football) numbers they were getting against the Lakers in that series." The Thunder TV broadcast team consists of play-by-play announcer Brian Davis and analyst Grant Long, new sideline reporter Kelly Crull, plus studio hosts from FS Southwest. Rohde notes the "entire 82-game regular-season schedule will continue to be carried on the Thunder Radio Network, led by flagship station WWLS-FM," with play-by-play announcer Matt Pinto. KSBI-Ind. broadcast 17 games during the Thunder's first two seasons in Oklahoma City (DAILY OKLAHOMAN, 8/4)
