Mark Shapiro As A Consultant
NFL Network hired former ESPN exec MARK SHAPIRO as a consultant. A league spokesperson confirmed that the network is tapping into Shapiro's programming acumen to improve the look and feel of NFL Network's game-day presentation, including its live games and studio shows. NFL Network President & CEO STEVE BORNSTEIN is a mentor of Shapiro's and reached out to the former ESPN Exec VP/Programming & Production. After a meteoric rise through ESPN, Shapiro left the company in '05 to join Redskins Owner DAN SNYDER and run Six Flags. He recently left Six Flags and is currently Dick Clark Productions President. The sports blog SportsByBrooks first reported Shapiro's consulting role with the network. The move comes as NFL Network already has made several moves to bolster its talent roster. Earlier this week, NFL Network signed Fox talent DARYL JOHNSTON and JAY GLAZER to appear on its studio shows. SportsByBrooks also reported that PETER KING rejected advances by the network to appear on its air.
