    Scott Trying To Expand
    Pac-10's Brand Into N.Y.

The Pac-10 has long fought for relevance east of the Rockies, but Commissioner Larry Scott seems intent on making the league a national player on par with the SEC and Big 10. Scott, the league’s football coaches and several top players are making the rounds this week in N.Y. and at ESPN’s Bristol campus in an effort to broaden the conference’s brand. Scott yesterday unveils a new modern logo and formally announces the conference will become the Pac-12 when Colorado and Utah join the league. The former WTA Chair & CEO has not been shy about his intentions of ratcheting up exposure for the conference. Scott recently has hired CAA to take advantage of the Pac-10’s natural geographic connection to Hollywood, and he is talking to execs about showing league events on Chinese TV. The main factor in how the league is identified nationally, though, still likely comes down to the on-field product.
