Clemens Asks U.S. Court Of Appeals To
Revive Defamation Case Against McNamee
Lawyers for former MLBer ROGER CLEMENS yesterday asked the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to "revive a defamation lawsuit he filed against his former personal trainer, BRIAN MCNAMEE, who claims he injected the ex-major leaguer with steroids and human growth hormone more than a dozen times." Clemens "appealed after a federal judge in Houston dismissed most of his claims against McNamee in February 2009" (AP, 7/7).
BEHIND THE SCENES: In Dallas, Leigh Munsil profiles North Texas Super Bowl Host Committee Dir of Business Development ROBBIE DOUGLAS, the "chief fundraiser" for the committee. Douglas is "responsible for raising the funds the host committee needs to run its programs by finding sponsors to foot the bill." The committee "has already secured more Million Dollar Sponsors than any other host committee" with 12, and Douglas said that it has sold about 60% of its sponsorship inventory and sponsorships are "still available" for Super Bowl XLV on Feb. 6.
