Ducks Will Introduce Third Jersey During Upcoming '10-11 Season
Published June 14, 2010
Ducks VP/Sales & Marketing Bob Wagner on Friday said that the team "will introduce third jerseys during the 2010-11 season," according to Curtis Zupke of the ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER. Wagner said that the jersey design "has been completed," but the team "won't unveil it until during the season." The jersey "will be worn for home games a maximum 15 times as mandated by the NHL." Wagner said that the time "was right" to unveil a third jersey after the franchise's re-branding a few years back. Zupke noted the Ducks in '06 changed from "eggplant-jade-and-white colored uniforms" to the "current black-metallic-gold design unveiled under new owners Henry and Susan Samueli." Wagner said, "We had to respect the initial plan. For us to launch a third jersey really quick would dilute the original jersey. We felt we needed to establish the current logo and colors ... it's not like we felt that we should do one just to do a jersey." Wagner noted that there is a "marketing plan involved with introducing a third jersey." He said, "Is it important to sell a lot of third jerseys? Absolutely. But I don't want it to take away from our core product" (OCREGISTER.com, 6/11).
