Manufacturers' Sales Of Sporting Goods Total $64.8B In '09

Manufacturers' sales of sporting goods (wholesale) in '09 totaled $64.8B, down 3% from $66.9B in '08, according to data from SGMA's annual State of the Industry Report. Within the category of sports equipment, gains were seen for camping, football, soccer and martial arts gear. Golf equipment led all sales for sports equipment, totaling $2.48B in '09, down 11.4% from '08. Among team sports, basketball sales were the highest, totaling $342M, down 3.9% from '08.
